Rowena and Timothy’s Wedding – June 29th, 2010

This page is all about a wedding between an Australian girl named Rowena and a Canadian boy named Timothy. Rowena and Timothy met in November 2009, decided to get married mid-March 2010, and 3 months later they did, on June 29th.

The ceremony was very small and that’s the way they wanted it. It was fairly informal, don’t let the suits and dresses fool you. It took place in Springwood, New South Wales, Australia, which is where Rowena grew up. The town of Springwood is in the Blue Mountains and is about an hour and a half West of Sydney. It’s a cute and tiny little mountain town. The wedding was in the Springwood Presbyterian Church and performed by Keith, who is the minister of that church and has known Rowena for a long time.

On the bride’s side, the ceremony was attended by Rowena’s mother Fiona and father Tony, her brother Che and his wife Jamie, Che and Jamie’s children Elliott and Kelly, Rowena’s Nan, aunt Megan, and some of Rowena’s closest friends. On the groom’s side, his parents Dawn and Phil flew from Canada to attend, and his aunt Denise, uncle Barry and cousin Luka flew down from Queensland. Barry stood up with Tim as his “Dude” (official title). Also in attendance were 4 of Tim’s friends from Canada via webcam. It was midnight in Toronto for Whittley and Mary, and 9pm in Vancouver for Ivan and Cecilia, but they were dressed up in suits and dresses. Phil and Dawn walked the aisle first, followed by Fiona and Barry. Tony walked Rowena down the aisle to “La valse d’Amélie (Orchestra Version)” from the Amélie soundtrack. She looked radiant in her champagne-coloured dress. Tim was waiting for her at the front of the aisle, all smiles in a black suit with a white tie.  They couldn’t get through their vows without laughs and smiles and giggles. It was a very happy wedding. No nervous shaking or profuse sweating to be found.

After the ceremony, everyone gathered at Rowena’s parents home for afternoon tea, antipasto and desserts. The photographer did some outdoor photos with the bride and groom, making good use of the natural setting in Tony and Fiona’s yard. Later, inside the house, Tim and Rowena gave brief speeches to give thanks to everyone for coming, and to mention those who were not in attendance. The family also had fun “roasting” Tim, and warning Rowena about what she was getting into. There were laughs and tears.

Fiona and Tony hosted a wonderful afternoon reception and everyone enjoyed the delicious spread of antipasto, pavlova, chocolate cake, cupcakes, breads, spreads, and heaps more. As the reception ended, the bride and groom said goodbye to everyone, packed up, and headed out to their honeymoon home in the mountains. They spent their honeymoon in Katoomba, in a gorgeous home that sat on a ridge looking out over the Blue Mountains. The view was endless, just like their love. Awwwww.
